Flying Lotus - Essential Mix

Not only did Flying Lotus just release a much improved remix of Kanye's "Love Lockdown", but I discovered that he had been recently featured on Pete Tong's legendary Essential Mix last month! The mix is tremendous, blubbery, and full of Flying Lotus' unique wonky flavor. Keep an ear out for subtle notes of Radiohead, a chopped and screwed rendition of "Promiscuous", chiptune accents, and a brief (yet wonderful) Natural Born Killers sound byte. Devil's Toy

Three years of high school French leave me with a very limited understanding of what's being ominously narrated in this short film. That being said, when the Devil's Toy appears at 1:29 amidst a screaming fleet of savvy looking 1960'ish Montreal skater boys your mom probably would have dated, the video speaks for itself. Add some dreamy French music, an artful credit sequence, and I'm sold. Check out the second part here.

 As this bizarre commercial puts it, "The light is your true friend". This tends to be truth of the matter when you have throes of assorted ghosts hanging around your picnic blanket.

Noby Noby Boy

Good ol' Bill linked me over to 1up's preview of Noby Noby Boy, an upcoming game for the PS3 by Keita Takahashi. Takashi, the creator behind Katamari Damacy and We ♥ Katamari, follows up with a title of similar style, a kind of style that has a raidnbow colored, dancing pandas and robots feel to it. After checking out the wild shots in the gallery, I'm so excited I could roll up a couple of stars or something. Heres to hoping my PS3-owing friends will let me come over and give it a try (*wink wink*).

this week's drawings

 Since I've been on vacation in NYC for the past week or so, I've been doing my best to get plenty of my favorite non work activities in my schedule. This means seeing friends, wandering around one of my favorite cities, and getting lots and lots of sleep. Of course I've managed to get a few drawings in while I've been lounging around, many inspired by various events during my trip.

This time instead of scanning them in on the B&W copier at the office, I took photos of them with my new camera to maintain the color of the moleskin paper. What do you think? Should I stick to the grayscale copies or the more realistic photographs?
