I typically wait until I have more than five drawings before I post them, but this last week's drawings were particularly robust and I haven't had an opportunity to brag about my newly acquired treasure from GDC. So I'm cheating. Cheating!
Drawings just turned out right this weekend. I spent most of my time drawing these outside, in the blessedly warm sun of an ever elusive San Francisco springtime. The above drawing is on a piece of stationary that my friend Dan gave me from his recent trip to Japan, and the characters on it are from the Japanese cartoon The World of Golden Eggs (which you should watch an episode of if you missed it the first time Update: Looks like the Man over in Japan took down the
video. I tried to find a substitute on Nico Nico Douga, but apparently
I can't read Japanese...). I was listening to Tipper's album The Seamless Unspeakable Something out in my garden, and at the time the illustrated additions I made seemed well suited for the characters' expressions. I'd like to see what other potential exists in drawings on Japanese stationary, so look out for more of these in the future!
Golden Eggs aside, my other drawings include some magical fog and a snow monster, but there is no doubt that the best drawing from last week came from none other than the creator of Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy, Keita Takahashi. I had the fortunate opportunity of attending his lecture at GDC, and with a little encouragement from Brandonnn I went up to his podium and asked him to sign my moleskine. He signed it and drew a tiny Noby Noby Boy, which I will most certainly be hanging up alongside my lucky Steve Purcell drawings from last year. Later that evening I even had the chance to see him again and give him my Noby Noby .tiff drawing as a thank you for his. I'm sure I came off as some sort of crazed nerd lady pumped up on fangirl juice, but I hope he liked it all the same.

It is *so* funny! I wish I had found it sooner, the animation is terrific and the characters are HILARIOUS!
