12.seconds.(a.second.review)

Maybe I'm stretching my blog material, but since I *know* that its tricky to redirect all y'all to the TypePad version of .tiff (where I'm currently blogging at a much higher frequency than here), I'm forced to do the occasional pseudo-cross-post as a reminder that it still exists, and is alive and kicking. Plus, everyone loves comments on their stuff, and because I'm a web-egomaniac (<- See! That post is on my TypePad blog too!), I love them a lot. So when you drop by for a visit, comment on a post, and I promise that any forthcoming kittens that might magically appear because of my happy ego will be named after you. A kitten promise is forever.

Back to the topic at hand. As I detailed in my TypePad post, friend and game journalist Robin Yang gave me an invite to the vlogging world's twitter, 12.seconds, last week. While the majority of members have been giving 12 second updates on what's going on in their day, I've approached the site trying to figure out what random stuff I can show in a limited time frame. Since my first video, The Indiana Jones Special Edition Spoon Light Show Extravaganza, I've lightly experimented with other scenarios, such as the following instance where I make you feel awkward about watching me drink coffee:

That was fun, right? Now watch as I show off 5 different toys from my office desk (3/5 are actually gifts from Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch's various trips):

AMAZING. While 12 seconds is a super tight window to work with, it kind of takes the stress out of finding super compelling material for a Vlog post, most of which typically run on for longer than I have to patience to watch someone talk into a webcam. Plus, it gives me creative energy to do mini videos like this, which I probably would have never thought of if it weren't for the limitations. Either way, maybe the site is a passing fancy and yet another way to waste your time on the Internet, but I'm having fun with it so far!

Butter Poached Lobster Shooter

I'm not one to frequent the food channels, but I've caught a few minutes of Paula Deen's cooking show over my Mom's shoulder before. One thing is clear, Paula has absolutely no shame in her super fatty, high caloric, cooking. So when she's showcasing a 4lb measuring cup of clarified butter for her butter poached lobster shooters, you can see the butter-colored halo of excitement engulf her.

Today Kat and I rode our bikes up through Golden Gate Park and happened upon a Six Apart company BBQ! By the time we got there, the kickball game was halfway through and most of the eatables were eaten, so naturally we gravitated towards cute dogs and bounce houses for entertainment. Fun, sun, and bouncing was had.

I had yet to test out Adobe Lightroom, a gift from my friend Zach, so when I returned home with a few colorful shots from the BBQ I decided to try it out. Like most adobe products, the software does wonders! My tinny cybershot photos turned out much more robust in color and clarity after a run through Lightroom. My favorite shot is the above photo of Rudy, but feel free to check out the rest of the set on my flickr.
