This morning IGN announced that acclaimed indie game studio Capybara Games, of Critter Crunch and Clash of Heroes fame, is giving Clash of Heroes an ice cream paint job and taking it from the DS to gamers on PSN and XBLA... in HD. Much like Critter Crunch, the transition from pixel art to hand-drawn animation looks incredibly stunning, and I can't wait to convince everyone to play Clash now that they will have easy access to it on their consoles.
I don't think I ever got around to talking about Clash of Heroes on this here blog (though I did make a little mention of it on the CO-OP 2009 Reflections, which I also neglected to post) but it was one of my favorites from last year. Incredibly well designed, terribly addictive, and with gorgeous pixel art to boot, Capybara's magic in Clash of Heroes is not to be missed. I can't wait to see this in full HD glory by sometime late this summer. Squee!

Clash of Heroes was one of my favorite games from last year. Count me in for another round.

I will admit, I'm so enamored of the beautiful pixel sprites from the original game that at first I was a bit unsure of how the game would feel in HD. But as Capy continues to prove, they can take great handheld games and make them into super console games. I can't wait for this, and I will play this game again!

Whoa. I've never played Clash of Heroes, but aim to now. I'm seriously digging this art style. The larger shots are stunning! Love the mood in that first screen...
