A photo like this found on a Friday guarantees a Friday post. So here it is, with a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Aside from Picross 3D, cooking my own dinners and finishing season 4 of The Wire (so good), Super Mario Galaxy 2 has gotten about 50 power stars-worth of play the past week or so, and it's as good as everyone has said. In the beginning it felt a lot like its predecessor, but as we progressed through all of the wildly imaginative galaxies and gameplay it turns out it's a lot lot more. It really feels like they had all men on deck for this one, so in other words, get this game if you don't have it. If I didn't already own a Wii I would have bought one to play Super Mario Galaxy 2.
And as long as we're on the topic, there's a lot of neat power-ups in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Some are carried over from the first game, but one which shouldn't have made it is the frustrating, Mario-yelping-YAHUWWOO-with-every-press-of-the-A-button Spring Mario power-up. Yeah yeah, it's barely in the game so it's not worth complaining about, but it's the only poorly designed thing I've spotted in the game thus far. I've heard other complaints about The Chimp challenges in the game, but frankly, I dig the Chimp's "Deal with it" style. Anyone else see that? Sort of reminds me Johnny Style from Zach & Wiki too.
In totally unrelated news, isn't this Fez inspired cross-stich birthday card awesome? Spotted that via Rubzo, retweeted by THE Phil Fish.
You're cooking dinner! The game looks fun but I never seem to finish any of them. I'm still way back in Paper Mario land.

The spring suit is fun. Did you have a hard time when you're using it down the narrow pathway with lava on the sides and chomps rolling at you?
ALSO I LOVE CLOUD MARIO.

YES. A VERY HARD TIME. I don't remember how many times Steph and I handed the controller back and forth after failing at that chomp runway, but there was a lot of frustration going on. And yes, I LOVE CLOUD MARIO TOO. I also love Yoshi!

ZAAAAAAKUUUUUU! Did we ever finish that? Add to list of things to do when I leave LA.

No. We didn't finish it. And yes, I want to finish it. Come OVER.
